August at KAS: Truck Shows, Tricky Lifts, and Local Community
August has been an incredibly busy month for our team providing crane hire services in the South West. When we aren’t out on site managing complex lifts, we love getting out and about to connect with the local transport community. From classic vehicles to challenging logistics, here is a quick look back at what we have been up to over the past few weeks.
Hitting the Road: SW Truck Show in Shepton Mallet
We took a trip up to Somerset for the SW Truck Show in Shepton Mallet. It is always a fantastic weekend, providing a great chance to catch up with fellow operators, admire some brilliant machinery, and talk shop outside of a busy building site.
The standard of the trucks on display this year was fantastic, and it is a reminder of the pride drivers take in their fleets across the region.

While the weekends were spent at shows, the working weeks brought their own set of unique challenges. One of the most common questions clients ask is how we operate safely in restricted areas.
Not every site has wide-open access. In fact, many of our jobs involve squeezing our equipment down narrow lanes, avoiding overhead obstacles, and setting up in incredibly tight spaces. These lifts require a highly skilled operator and meticulous planning to execute smoothly. Celebrating Classics at the North Devon Festival of Transport
Continuing our tour of summer events, we also showcased our fleet at the North Devon Festival of Transport. This is a brilliant local event that really brings the community together.
Seeing the sheer variety of classic cars, vintage lorries, and agricultural machinery always sparks a bit of nostalgia. It is fascinating to see how transport and lifting technology has evolved over the decades to give us the modern, efficient fleets we operate today.
Looking Ahead: Barnstaple Carnival and Everything Ellie
As we enter September, our focus is shifting slightly closer to home. We are incredibly proud to announce that we will be participating in the upcoming Barnstaple Carnival.
Community means everything to us, which is why we are partnering with the wonderful local charity, Everything Ellie, for the event. They do vital work supporting families across North Devon, and we are looking forward to helping them raise awareness (and hopefully plenty of funds) during the carnival procession. We hope to see many of you there on the route!
