May Round-Up: Award Wins, Wind Turbines, and Cabin Lifts Across the South West
May has been an incredibly busy and rewarding month for the team here at KAS Crane and Hiab Hire. From precision engineering projects on local building sites to lifting renewable energy infrastructure, our fleet has been active across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.
To top it all off, we also took some time to show off our hard work in front of thousands of truck enthusiasts at one of the region’s favourite annual events.
Here is a look back at what we got up to in May.
Shining Bright at the Devon Truck Show
The annual Devon Truck Show is always a massive date in our calendar. It is a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our peers in the transport industry, meet local families, and showcase the machinery we use to keep South West businesses moving.
Preparing our vehicles for the show is no small task. The team spent the weekend valeting, polishing, and detailing our vehicles to make sure they looked immaculate.

All that elbow grease paid off. We are thrilled to announce that our newest vehicle took home 2nd place in the Best Crane Truck category.
This crane truck is a key part of our fleet, offering highly efficient reach and lifting capabilities. Seeing its design and presentation recognised by the judges was a proud moment for the entire team. Precision Cabin Installations and Wedgewood Buildings
Beyond the polish of the truck show, our main focus is always on getting the job done safely and efficiently on-site.

This month, we tackled several complex lifts, including cabin installations for residential and commercial developments. Transporting and positioning these large modular units requires a delicate balance of heavy-lifting capacity and tight-squeeze navigation.
A highlight of our construction support this month was working alongside Wedgewood Buildings. Ensuring these timber and modular structures are positioned with absolute accuracy is vital for the integrity of the build. Our experienced operators handled these lifts smoothly, using our highly manoeuvrable Hiab hire fleet to place structures exactly where they needed to be, even on sites with restricted access.

Harnessing the Wind: Erecting Wind Turbines
Renewable energy projects are becoming increasingly common across the rolling hills of the South West. This May, we were proud to assist with the assembly and erection of local wind turbines.

Lifting wind turbine components demands specialised planning and execution. The height, weight, and aerodynamic nature of the blades and towers mean that wind conditions must be monitored closely, and rigging must be immaculate.
For jobs of this scale, we operate under strict safety guidelines. Our clients often choose our comprehensive CPA contract lift services, which hands over the entire planning, risk assessment, and execution responsibility to our qualified appointed persons. This ensures that even the most complex lifts go off without a hitch.
Looking Ahead to June
Whether we are erecting wind turbines, carrying out complex machinery installation and removals, or simply keeping our award-winning trucks looking their best, safety and customer satisfaction remain at the heart of everything we do.
Our modern, versatile fleet is ready for whatever lifting challenges the coming summer months bring.
If you have an upcoming project in Devon or the wider South West and need reliable lifting support, we would love to help. Take a look at some of our vehicles in our project gallery, or get in touch with the team today for a free, no-obligation quote.
